Found this conversation on MeWe between a user and MeWe staff. You may find the answers interesting.

MeWe user posts list of missing features:

1. Can't share post privately to our followers also includes able to share posts privately to selected users.
2. When resharing posts from followers/group there's no mention of the users/group name who the post been shared from.
3. Don't get it why MeWe doesn't allows to view our profile and group to public non MeWe users without signing up when we share the link.
4. There's no link options for posts. How to share individual post with the help of links. Posts can only be shared within MeWes system.
5. When sharing posts in group why the shared content is not seen on ones timeline.
6. No group classification. Like which is your owned group and joined.
7. No sharing counter. How many and who shared your post.
8. No option to disable comments and sharing.

Mark Stronge of MeWe answers:

All of your posts are private, shared to your contacts, there are no followers on MeWe so choose who you want to give access to be able to chat to. A close friends option is already in the works.

Already in the works

MeWe is built on consent and privacy. Public posts are coming but they will be public within MeWe, not to the web.

This is related to privacy and the design of MeWe, that may change.

Groups and your timeline are separate.

A very minor thing, you should know which group you created though.

That might be added when the sharing with original source shown is added

Disabling comments might be useful, you can already disable sharing of all of your posts in the settings.

Followers is coming in 2 weeks

The Death of Google+ Is Tearing Its Die Hard Communities Apart | Steven T. Wright

...For these Google+ enthusiasts, the process of digital relocation has become a very serious endeavor. Just ask John Lewis, the software developer who built a 3,500-member group on Google+ that’s dedicated to finding a replacement for these uprooted users, dubbed the “Mass Migration” community. A cursory scroll reveals intense discussions about what social media platform the users will flock to next, with debates that dwell on the relative strengths and weaknesses of individual platforms. Lewis and his raft of dedicated moderators have even organized Reddit-style AMAs for the CEOs of these sites to essentially pitch themselves to the skeptical community....

How to save your G+ page.

Today I wanted to see if I could save my G+ page so that it could be accessed later. The good news is that yes it can be done. You can also save other sites if you want. You are only limited by your storage availability.

Here is the program I used. It is freeware. I am sure there are other programs available for use.

Update on my power supply failure.

Update on my power supply failure.

When I opened up the failed power supply, I found that the input side of the high voltage transformer had shorted out to a near by capacitor. I opened the new power supply and found that the line followed the same path. I insulated the capacitor and line with kapton tape. I then added some non conductive foam between the problem areas. A quick inspection of the failed power supply also showed that the output line was rubbing on the power supply case. I made sure this was also isolated on the new power supply.

Don Kleinschnitz Jr. The power supply failure was not related to the oil from the refrigeration compressor in the cooling water.

Everything is working good as new. (as it should!)

A little venting but with a happy ending!

A little venting but with a happy ending!

Yesterday I was working on a two sided sign for a customer. When I went to turn on the chiller, it made an awful racket and stopped. Well the weather is nice and cool so not a big deal. I finished the first side and it came out great. Checking the water temp, I noticed it was a milky color. When I put my hand in the water, it was oily! My chiller had failed where the compressor motor oil was now in the cooling chamber! Removed the chiller and cleaned everything with a good dose of Dawn dishwater soap and a good rinse. Went to start the second side of the sign and noticed it was loosing power. As soon as I got close to the power supply, I could hear it arcing then silence. This is a new power supply just over 90 days old. I just knew the eBay seller would not honor a return. I sent them an email which was replied to in a few hours with the offer of a replacement if I payed $15.00 shipping fee! OMG! Better than $120.00 for a new one. (which I had already ordered to get up and running to finish the job.)
So a quick shout out to orionmotortech eBay seller.

So, I know you are wondering if the oil could have caused the power supply failure. I do not believe so. A quick glance points to the coil which is a big point of failure in laser power supplys. I had a previous one fail which was sent to Don Kleinschnitz Jr. for evaluation. I also know of other users of this laser who have had PS failures too. Now to research a PS that can handle my system.

Thanks for listening!

Processing Plastics with CO2 Lasers Synrad Applications Lab

Processing Plastics with CO2 Lasers Synrad Applications Lab

Types of Laser Interactions with Plastics

There are 3 main types of material interactions when hit by the
CO2 laser beam:
• Vaporization
– The material vaporizes into gas residue which is blown out when cut.
This is the cleanest cutting / marking process.
• Melt Sharing
– The material melts into molten droplets which are blown out when cut.
There is typically some melt-back
• Chemical Degradation
– The plastic material chemically degrades typically releasing carbon smoke.
The material chars and has soot residue

Legally Inspiring!

Legally Inspiring!

Everyone enjoys what is trending in society and share it with laser inspired work. Unfortunately, most is copyright material that to use and sell legally requires licensing and permission which can be onerous. One place to look is in the public domain. Even though Wizard of OZ and Alice in Wonderland have been made into movies, the actual books and pictures contained therein can be used without the need for permission.

Alice came to a fork in the road. “Which road do I take?” she asked.
“Where do you want to go?” responded the Cheshire cat.
“I don’t know,” Alice answered.
“Then,” said the cat, “it doesn’t matter.”

Here is a fun site to get some ideas.

Here is a fun site to get some ideas.

52 projects has turned into 130 and counting!

About us from the site;
"52 Lasers is a collaboration between Pixelaser and Isette, showcasing one new project per month created with an industrial laser engraving & cutting platform. The blog was born out of a need for an artistic challenge and a huge list of things we want to try, but never seem to get around to doing. Expect to see a variety of different uses for laser engraving and cutting here—trying new materials, making functional objects, creating unusual artistic pieces, even documenting the experiments we’ve been meaning to do and feel would be helpful to the laser community at large. To that end, for each project, we’ll select one thing from an ever-growing list of ideas and turn it into a finished project. Then we’ll take some pictures and write some things and share them with you here! While the name 52 Lasers came to be when we were posting one project a week, our current main project schedule is monthly."

Finally got my rotatory working this weekend.

The cup is an insulated cup from Starbucks. My daughter is into dragonflys and her nickname is JAX.

I was able to make a stabilizer end out of some firm foam I get from work. It is interesting that math trumps common sense! The first one has an outer diameter of the larger end. You would think that this would make the angle of the cup straight but no! You have to add enough extra so that the cup is actually straight. Geometry finally paying off!

Great site for laser ready Templates.

I was looking for some angel wing earring templates and came across this site. The cost is very reasonable and they will even work with you to make a template of what you need. Even better the files are in multiple formats that anyone can use.

All our designs are laser-ready and available in .CDR, .PDF, .AI, .EPS and .SVG formats, all compressed into a .rar folder so that you can easily import them into your favourite editing program.

I had an epiphany the other day about how to make an illuminated acrylic sign on the cheap. It uses a tealight as the illumination source. They make ones that do not flicker like a candle and they also come in different colors. I made a very quick and rough proof of concept. Sorry about the poor quality of the pics.

Hello Friends, thx for attention!
I have this problem on my K40. She came with me from the US and since 2014 I've never put her to work since. Today I had to use it, but Axis X has this problem. The video details exactly the problem:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCwRKhoVGmo

I pulled out the Belt of X axis to check the engine status, it stands still, humming.

I bought a new motherboard, and put it in place of the old, same problem. What could it be? The Power Supply voltages are normal ( 5.1v e 24.5v).

I'm totally in the dark. I have no idea what it can be. Has anyone experienced this and knows how to solve it?
